The 1 Villain Scarier Than Thanos Is Collecting Marvel’s Infinity Stones
Contains spoilers for Silver Surfer Legacy: Rebirth #1. A villain more terrifying than Thanos collects Marvel’s Infinity Stones. In both the Marvel Universe and the MCU, Thanos has made a career out of lusting after the Infinity Stones – and he even assembled them all into the Infinity Gauntlet. Now, in Silver Surfer Rebirth: Legacy #1, a new villain is on the trail of the Stones – and what this new group can accomplish with them could put Thanos to shame. Silver Surfer Rebirth: Legacy #1 reunites the superstar creative team of writer Ron Marz and artist Ron Lim, joined by inker Don Ho, colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr, and letterer Joe Sabino. Silver Surfer and Genis-Vell (son of Mar-Vell) arrive at Monster Isle, home of Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch. Genis expressed a desire to see his father in action. He and the Surfer search for the Time Stone so they can go back and watch Mar-Vell’s fight. Genis is uncertain about this plan, stating that even the fearsome Gamora would not use the Time Stone. The surfer dismissed these concerns and took the stone. Then they went back in time, to one of the greatest battles in Mar-Vell. Genis watches in amazement, but things quickly take a turn for the worse when it is revealed that his companion is not the Surfer, but is in fact Mephisto! Now in possession of the Time Stone for himself, Mephisto teleports Genis-Vell.
Mephisto Is Marvel’s Ultimate Evil
In every way, Mephisto is Marvel’s version of the Christian Devil. At some point, he’s been a thorn in the side of almost every major Marvel hero – and he’s especially infuriating towards the Silver Surfer. First appearing in the 1960s solo game Surfer, Mephisto has become one of Marvel’s main villains. Rumor has it that he will make his MCU debut in the upcoming Ironheart series, where he will be played by Sacha Baron Cohen. Mephisto craves power and will do anything to capture innocent souls. He is currently searching for the Infinity Stones for reasons that remain unknown.
Mephisto Started With the Correct Infinity Stone
Mephisto knows the power of the Infinity Stones. In the epic Infinity Gauntlet series, Mephisto serves as Thanos’ right-hand man, witnessing the great cosmic spectacle unfold before his eyes. Mephisto has the power to decide everything, and even though Thanos is defeated, the villain remembers the power of the Stones and is now searching for them himself. Mephisto begins with the Time Stone; Possessing this Stone makes it easier for others to appropriate it. With this stone, Mephisto can travel through time and easily steal other stones. The big question is: why does Mephisto want the Infinity Stones? Thanos wants the Stones so he can wipe out half of the universe’s population and impress his lover, Death. Mephisto saw it all happen, including how Thanos was defeated. Thanos is a powerful character but Mephisto is even stronger: the embodiment of pure evil. Mephisto is also more cunning than the Mad Titan and is capable of using the Stones even better than Thanos. The Infinity Stones in the hands of someone like Mephisto, who is even more terrifying and evil than Thanos, is a terrifying prospect for the Marvel Universe.
