Norman Reedus Reveals How Daryl Gets His Mission In Walking Dead Spinoff
A new behind-the-scenes look at The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon reveals how Daryl accomplished his mission in the upcoming spinoff series. The show follows Daryl trying to return home after being stranded in France, only to be tasked with taking a kid named Laurent across the country. This mission comes from the Union of Hope, a religious group that believes Laurent is the key to saving humanity. Now, The Walking Dead has released a behind-the-scenes video for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, in which star Norman Reedus reveals how Daryl accomplished his mission. Speaking in the video at the 1:21 mark, Reedus reveals the existence of a map created by a new character that can seemingly take Daryl home to Virginia. Check out what Reedus had to say below: In season 1, Daryl is, first off, trying to figure out where he’s at. How does he get out of here…. Through circumstance, he ends up with a group of nuns. And for him to find his way back home, he’s gotta follow a map that a priest has left behind with a young boy [Laurent].
The behind-the-scenes video also shows Daryl seeing a map left by the priest, which shows several important locations across France. Reedus reveals that this card will help Daryl return home, but it also seems to be related to Laurent. It seems that the key to Daryl’s safe return to the Virginia community lies in getting Laurent where he’s supposed to be. However, the journey there is destined to be deadly, fraught with dangers from both zombies and humans. Daryl will face acid zombies like a new variant in France that can burn his skin with their blood once killed. He will also face a new group that seems to want Laurent for nefarious purposes, while he is pursued by one of their leaders, Codron. While it’s unclear exactly what Daryl’s adventure across France will entail, promotional materials suggest an action-packed and emotional journey as Daryl guides Laurent to safety. The boy’s role in the zombie apocalypse remains a mystery, but he is clearly important to the Alliance of Hope and the priest who left the map. The deadly nature of Daryl’s new quest will be revealed when The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon opens on September 10.
