Insider Scoop: Marvel's Echo Generates Early Social Media Excitement
Social media reactions have emerged about the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe TV show, Echo, featuring the return of Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. While it will be a few months until 2024’s first and only MCU movie, Deadpool 3, the first Marvel Studios series for the year is on its way with the Hawkeye spinoff Echo. Focusing on Maya after the events of Hawkeye, Echo will mark the MCU’s first Marvel Spotlight show. With the Echo TV show dropping all of its episodes this week on Disney+ and Hulu, critics have been able to screen the first three episodes of the limited-event series. As the embargo has lifted, several members of the press have started sharing their thoughts on Echo episodes 1-3. Check out some reactions below: Screen Rant’s Molly Freeman praises the “breathless fight scenes and a stunningly unique voice,” and adds that Echo improves after the first episode. Screen Rant’s Rob Keyes isn’t entirely sold yet until he’s seen the whole season, but credits Echo for doing “some unexpected things,” while also being thrilled to see Daredevil and Wilson Fisk back again.
What Echo’s Early Reactions Reveal About The First Marvel Spotlight Show
Echo may be a lesser-known character in the Marvel canon, but early reactions are already showing that the MCU still has the ability to make him accessible to the general public. But what stands out is that the new Marvel Spotlight effort seems to be reminiscent of what made the original Marvel TV division shows so special. The multiverse saga has struggled with its overall plot, as various films and TV shows have been rushed into production and received mixed reactions, and despite the short episode order, “Echo” is clearly part of the MCU This is a new opportunity for Perhaps one of the most common problems facing the MCU these days is that it’s become a little too interconnected in TV and movies. Although Echo is set in Phase 5 of his MCU, he won’t necessarily be a major part of his saga or other universes in the multiverse. Instead, ‘Echo’ will be a realistic, darkly comic drama that plays to the strengths of series such as ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’
While spotlight shows like Echo remain a staple of his MCU, Marvel Studios’ goal is to create series that are easy to watch without having to look at past projects under its banner. This is also a huge victory for Indigenous communities and disability communities. This two population of hers receives little attention in major genres like the superhero pool. Not only does Echo bode well for future Marvel Spotlight shows, it’s also expected to pave the way for other diverse characters to get a chance to shine. We can’t wait to see how the world reacts to Echo when all episodes are released on Disney+ and Hulu on Tuesday, January 9th.
