Ahsoka’s Inquisitor Story Mirrored Boba Fett In The Star Wars Original Trilogy
Inquisitor Marrok’s story in Season 1 of Ahsoka contains several details that reflect Boba Fett’s personality in the original Star Wars trilogy. From the moment the Ahsoka trailer hit the internet, fans were intrigued by the new live-action Inquisitor and began speculating about his identity. Theories included Ezra Bridger, former Jedi Padawan Barris Offee, and even Darth Vader’s secret apprentice from the Legends continuity. As fun as these theories were, none came true in Ahsoka, but this created a connection between Marrok and Boba Fett. While Boba Fett himself may have changed drastically after his return in The Book of Boba Fett, Marrok’s character has many parallels to the bounty hunter’s original incarnation. This offers viewers a new perspective on Marrok but may remind fans of an annoying trend that has always plagued the Star Wars franchise. Despite Marrok’s similarities to Boba Fett, it is unlikely that he will return to Star Wars, especially in Ahsoka season 2.
Marrok & Boba Fett Follow The Same Star Wars Pattern

Marrok’s character treatment in Ahsoka is similar to his portrayal of Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy. Both are mercenaries working for the Empire, have little dialogue and immediately attract the viewer’s attention. More importantly, both are mysterious helmeted figures that everyone thinks are more important than them. Boba Fett falls into the Sarlacc Pit at the start of Return of the Jedi, while Marrok is killed midway through Ahsoka before anything important is revealed about the character.
Marrok’s Fate Makes Him A True Boba Fett Analogue (But He Won’t Return)

Marrok’s fate in Ahsoka makes him more similar to Boba Fett than any other Star Wars character. Star Wars is famous for introducing characters whose designs are their main selling point, who are killed off after being underutilized. Supreme Leader Snoke and Captain Phasma are more recent examples of this trend, and Darth Maul showed this problem in the prequel trilogy before being brought back in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Marrok’s return would make him even more like Boba Fett, who emerged from the sarlacc to star in his own spinoff, but that’s not an unlikely outcome for Ahsoka’s Inquisitor. Marrok’s return after Ahsoka doesn’t make sense, at least not later in the timeline. Boba Fett’s return was always possible because the audience never saw him die, and he was wearing armor when he fell into the sarlacc. Marrok exploded into a cloud of dust, so not even the darkest Nightsister magic would bring him back. Even if possible, the Star Wars sequels were criticized for reviving Emperor Palpatine without explaining his return. Marrok’s character in Ahsoka is shockingly similar to Boba Fett, but coming back from the dead isn’t something they can have in common.
