10 Loki Variants We Want To See In Loki Season 2
The MCU will soon return to the TVA with Loki season 2, hopefully with plenty more entertaining variants of the God of Mischief. In the first season, the 2012 version of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki became a recruit of the Time Variance Authority, helping to capture variants of himself across the Sacred Timeline. Although several different versions of Loki were featured in the show from the original comics, there are still plenty who could make an appearance in Loki season 2.
At the end of Loki season 1, the Loki variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) killed He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), a version of Kang the Conqueror who’d been keeping his own variants from existing by having the TVA maintain a singular reality known as the Sacred Timeline. Now, the multiverse is free along with its countless different realities and versions not only of Kang, but presumably Loki himself. Here are the top 10 variants of the God of Mischief we’d love to see in Loki season 2.
Earth-TRN707 Loki
The Loki of Earth-TRN707 is one of the original comics’ most powerful variations. Wearing all the Infinity Stones while also being worthy of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, this variant is extremely formidable. However, it would be intriguing to see a version of Loki with all the Infinity Stones, especially after so many were seen in the TVA offices discarded in drawers and used as paperweights.
Lady Loki
The Loki of Earth-TRN707 is one of the original comics’ most powerful variations. Wearing all the Infinity Stones while also being worthy of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, this variant is extremely formidable. However, it would be intriguing to see a version of Loki with all the Infinity Stones, especially after so many were seen in the TVA offices discarded in drawers and used as paperweights.
Agent of Asgard Loki
Another evolution of the primary Loki, the God of Mischief was reincarnated into a younger body who sought to escape his fate as a villain. Becoming an undercover “Agent of Asgard”, Loki served the All-Mothers who sent him on missions, effectively doing all he could to become a hero. However, the All-Mothers had secret designs to forge Loki into a villain all the same. Regardless, a superspy variant of Loki would be a lot of fun for Loki season 2.
Ultimate Loki
The Loki of Earth-TRN707 is one of the original comics’ most powerful variations. Wearing all the Infinity Stones while also being worthy of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, this variant is extremely formidable. However, it would be intriguing to see a version of Loki with all the Infinity Stones, especially after so many were seen in the TVA offices discarded in drawers and used as paperweights.
Cat Loki
Following Alligator Loki and Throg in Loki season 1, it stands to reason that Loki season 2 could feature another adorable animal variant. As such, a prime candidate from the comics could be Cat Thor, a version of the God of Mischief who shape-shifted with a giant cat head wearing a Thor helmet. The only reason Loki did so was to annoy Thor, threatening to keep his cat head forever. Perhaps Loki season 2 could feature a version who does just that.
Sorcerer Supreme Loki
Believing that Doctor Strange was ill-prepared to face imminent threats, Loki cast an illusion making the Sorcerer Supreme believe that the Vishanti had instigated a magical tournament to decide the worthiness of the Sorcerer Supreme. Losing the tournament, Strange gave up his title to Loki who became the Marvel Universe’s new Sorcerer Supreme. While it was of course quite temporary, seeing a variant of Loki who became Sorcerer Supreme over Strange or Wong in the MCU would be quite exciting. After all, there’s no telling what a Loki would do with all of that power at their disposal.
All-Black Loki
One of the darkest versions of Loki, the God of Mischief sought All-Black the Necrosword in a bid to destroy Thor once and for all. Calling himself Loki the All-Butcher, Loki’s time as an incredibly dark god was cut short by the resurrection of Gorr, the original God Butcher and owner of the Necrosword who quickly reclaimed his weapon. Regardless, an All-Black Loki variant in the MCU would certainly be an interesting way to bring back Gorr’s corruptive powers despite his death in Thor: Love and Thunder.
What If’s Frost Giant Loki
Briefly teased in Loki season 1 and further featured in an episode of Marvel’s What If…?, a version of Loki that was never adopted by Odin and remained with the frost giants would certainly be an entertaining addition to Loki season 2. While he could certainly be a darker version seeking to conquer Asgard in the name of his frost giant father Laufey, he could also be a total bro and buddy of Thor’s as was seen in What If…?. Either version would be quite entertaining going forward in the MCU.
Loki, The God Of Stories
A more current reincarnation of Loki following his “Agent of Asgard” era, Loki has since become the God of Stories in the comics’ primary Marvel Universe. Refusing to be the God of Lies any longer, becoming the God of Stories is a means for Loki to write his own story, one where he’s less about sides or being good or evil. While a variant could be exciting in Loki season 2, this could also just be the inspiration for the primary Loki’s ongoing evolution in the MCU.
Avenger Prime Loki
Additionally, Avenger Prime is a very new Loki variant in the comics who’d be quite a dynamic variant in Loki season 2. A version of Loki who successfully destroyed the Avengers, Loki found himself becoming Earth’s sole defender after having no choice but to defeat all the villains Earth’s Mightiest would have fought. However, in doing so he ended up destroying the entire universe he sought to save. As punishment for his sins, Loki was tasked by the God Quarry with assembling Avengers from all over the multiverse, protecting realities in need as “Avenger Prime” an ironic twist of cosmic fate that would be perfect for the MCU.
